Big Ben has a nose ring!!
We went to Pittsburgh today. Isaiah weighed in at 14 pounds and 1 ounce! can you believe it? He has gained 5 pounds in three months. He was in such a good mood today, Laughing and cooing for Dr. V and the nurses.
He was fitted for his nose stint today. It took a little longer today. It is a metal wire added to his NAM and the same wax they add every week.
I took some pictures today and I will take on of the NAM when I take it out to clean it. Enjoy the pictures.

Its flubug time...
Seems like we have nothing else to do but pass the flu bug around...
Audrey had it, then Devon got it, I think Elijah had a small case in between, then Kearstyn got it and gave it to me. Mom and Margaret got it from us and Elijah got another little touch of it. Audrey and Devon are better. I think I am on the mends now and Elijah, well NOTHING can keep him down!! I think Isaiah may have a small case of it. I have changed a lot of full stinky diapers lately.
I hope thats it but I am sure there is more to come... I am trying to keep sprite and laundry soap and toilet paper on hand. Those seem to be the necessities this week.
On a good note about the bug. I was suppose to start my "diet" if you can call it that while pumping on Tuesday. That was the day I came down with the bug. Since then I have lost 9 pounds. The only thing I will say is it is one heck of a way to loose weight. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Anyways before I got sick I did make a trip to Pittsburgh. Isaiah weighs 13 lbs and 6 ozs. Growing like a weed. They did say that they scheduled him for his nose piece next week. We go on Tuesday the 27th. Dave has appointments so I have to go alone so it should be interesting.
I am very glad we got a full day of school in today. I am about to hire a personal tutor....
MaKynzie's Birthday is Sunday. It's hard to believe that she will be eight. Not doing much on Sunday, just hoping everyone is well. Next friday I am braving it all and having a sleepover.. Lord only knows how many females will be in this house.
Check in later.

Isaiah had shots today!
We had an appointment with our pediatrician today. He was very impressed with Isaiah's growth and overall health. So good that we graduated to bi-monthly appointments instead of monthly!!
Said all the loud noises we are hearing when he breathes is not in his chest which is a great thing. Mostly related to the cleft. A noisy breather he is!! He has a place on his stomach that comes and goes. Almost looks like a hernia. It is at the top of his stomach about the size of a golf ball. He said not a hernia to worry about. Just that all babies stomach muscles come together from the sides and connect and his has not completely done so yet. He said give it time it will and no further treatment is needed.
I also questioned the need for hearing tests. He said he should have one. Maybe they will order it for a pre op before surgery but I will check into it. Sometimes I don't know who to ask certain questions about his care. Which place is in charge of what.
He said is head and neck control was much better and he looks identical to dad!! imagine that!
He was a little surprised to hear that he is already laughing out loud. I also see signs that he is in the beginning stages of trying to turn over. That was pretty much it for him. And of course he got two shots that mad him outright MAD!!!
I took Elijah along cause I thought he had another ear infection but he doesn't. YEAH!!! He now weighs 24lbs. He's growing a little! I thought he would weigh 22 lbs when he went to school.
This is an exciting weekend for me. Monday is my birthday and I am going away to celebrate, not really to celebrate but just to get away. Amanda, Shana, and I are going to Pittsburgh tomorrow evening and having dinner at the Cheesecake factory then staying at a nice hotel with an awesome hot tub! (THAT I CAN'T WAIT FOR!!!!) Then Saturday morning we are going to Grove City for the day. Dave is keeping all the kids, yes ALL of them. I am even leaving Isaiah. I am nervous but I know I NEED the time away. I have been having really bad headaches for a couple weeks and hoping this is just the medicine I need. If you get a minute you might want to send up a prayer or two for Dave. Who knows what I might find when I return Saturday night. They may have him duct taped to the wall or something. I know he can handle it but as a mom I am nervous. After all I don't have many walls left for Elijah to decorate. I am hoping that the crayons are all gone and the sharpies have all ran out of ink by now.
I wanted to add some pictures from the last couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy them!

Team meeting day!!!
Today was the day!!! We left bright and early this snowy and freezing wintery morning. Made it just in time.
Isaiah weighs 13 lbs 2 oz. He is doing great! Everyone was pleased with his growth. ENT discovered he has fluid on both his ears but thankfully the infection is gone. So from that we know that tubes are a definite addition on his first surgery day.
We met with the surgeon. He stated that things are progressing nicely. We were very saddened to learn that he will be leaving children's in May. He wants to do the surgery in April before he leaves. No projected date yet just a month. guess thats better than nothing. We will miss him and wish he would be there to do the rest of his surgeries. We will trust in God that he has someone lined up to take his place that will continue the execellent care of Isaiah.
As for Dr. V., she measured his gumline and informed us that it was measuring 7 (I think they measure in mm but not completely sure) and it needed to be at a 5. I will try to get his tape a little tighter this week and prayer for better results next week. I understand that the timing has to be right but it was dissappointing today not to get it. I completely trust them and realize they know whats best but I am anxious. I think because it means progress.
Dr. V. had Dr. Shaw come over and check Elijah's teeth today as well. He thought he was going to check his ears and wanted NO PART OF IT!!!! We did discover that he has 7 cavities. He suggested the surgery. They feel they can clean, fill and maybe cap his teeth to save them. He doesn't feel that he will need to pull any but can't say for sure until they are in there. With that we have chosen to take him there to have it done. I will let you know when I know more.
take care

prayer has worked!
I am happy to report that Isaiah is better! All of his cold symptoms seem to be almost gone. He just has a little cough lingering. Went back to pittsburgh this past Tuesday and his ear infection is gone. YEAH!! We survived.
He weighs 12 lbs 12oz and 23 1/4 inches long. Such a big fellow. I looked back and Elijah weighed 13 lbs and 10 oz at 5 months! Isaiah is almost 2 1/2 months. We stopped at the carter store and bought him some new clothes. He has already outgrown things that Elijah wore at six months old! He is a chunk a monk, but a loveble one at that!!!!
Dr.V said that his gum still wasn't as close as it needed to be so we didn't get the nose piece. Hopefully this week. We go on Monday so we will see. Of all the appointments we have had this one is most important! We meet with the entire team. We will be discussing issues about his surgery and hopefully get a projected time frame.
While we were there I questioned Dr.V about a second opinion for Elijah's teeth. He is suppose to have surgery on the on the 23rd. We are praying they can repair them and not have to pull them. Dr. V said "just bring him with you next week and we will have our specialist take a look at him" how cool was that. It sure will make me feel better. Once again KUDOS TO CHILDREN"S HOSPITAL!!!! we love you guys!
Enjoy whats left of the week end and I will update monday evening.
