We made another trip to pittsburgh today. Things went pretty well. Isaiah weighs 12 lbs 9oz. Gained 7 oz in a week.
He has developed an ear infection and his first cold. Dave is sick and I think he caught it. He is coughing a lot and not sleeping well. Fussy and having belly issues.
GOOD NEWS....
We found out today that they will do the nose prep next week. I am excited but scared. I know in the long run it is for the very best. He has done really well with the NAM. This is just added to help his nose form. I will post a picture next tuesday when we get home.
I also have a picture to add that I took the other night when I had his NAM out. You can really tell a difference from when he was born. It has pulled it together.
Will try to get it uploaded soon.
Well Isaiah has been asleep about 30 minutes without being held so I better get a few things done while I can.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We love you all. We want to take a moment to thank you all for your love and support this year. Your prayers for our family has helped us make it through.
Yesterday Isaiah had an appointment in Piitsburgh. WHAT A TRIP!!! Dave had to work so my friend Betty went with me and then we were going to Robinson to finish our shopping. We get to pittsburgh and mind you Dave always drives and I am usually asleep. So anyways I am driving along and we go through the tunnel and I make the first turn. After that you are suppose to vere to the right and of course I was in the wrong lane so to the left I go! Go up to go around the block and then I turn right to get back on track...
there is a fire chief blazer running around, then it blocks the road. so I turn on the street I need only to have a huge fire truck sitting there. Then comes another. So were are sandwiched between two fire truck and unable to go anywhere. Then the firefighters jump out and go running down the street carrying axes. It was a sight. We look behind us and realize a building is on firre on the top floor. Smoke everywhere. What a sight! Anyways we made it through and was on our way. Made it to the dr.
Isaiah weighs 12 lbs and 2 oz! Doing great. Not much to report except that Dr. V. said we will start with the nose in a few weeks. Yeah!!
Well I gotta run and take the girls to finish their shopping so that should be fun!

Lots of info from pittsburgh
We had an appointment in pittsburg today. Isaiah now weighs 11 lbs and 13 ozs. he is one big boy! They say he is the biggest baby they have treated as far as how fast hes grown and such.
I hope I can get all this stuff straight.
Isaiah has been having periods of difficulty in his breathing. Like when he is eating he will choke easily and gasp for air. Sometimes for no reason at all he will arch his back and throw his arms and loose his breathe for a few seconds. It is very scary but he never turns blue or anything and it never lasts more than 3-4 seconds then he regains his breath. Today they noticed that while weighing him he was struggling to breathe a little bit. They noticed it in his stomach and under his chest. They said it was something new that he has developed, meaning they have not observed this behavior before. They immediatly contacted ENT dr and we had an appointment within the hour. They checked him and found fluid on his left ear. That means there is now an ever greater possibility for tubes. More than likely they will put them in when they do his lip repair but if they take him to surgery for any other reason before that then they will do it then.
They also said that his lip was starting to come together a little bit. She was very pleased and said she would begin the work on his nose to prepare it for surgery soon. It will be a something added to the NAM and placed inside his noe to push it out. PRAISE GOD the NAM is working!!!
The ENT dr also was concerned about breathing so they chose to do an endoscopy on him today in the office. That was not fun at all. They ran a camera down his nose. They found that he has something called laryngmalisia (I know I didn't spell it right). In terms we can understand... He has a flappy voicebox. The flap has too much tissue so when he breathes it causes him some distress. The good news to that is this... It covers the airway so that when he is eating it does now allow fluid in his airway or lungs. So they put him on a second medicine for his reflux to help with this. The next step is thickening his fluid and worst case senerio would be surgery.
We had family pictures taken last night and it was by far the worse experience I have ever had with a photographer. I will post the pictures in a little while but I have to give Isaiah a bath and Elijah in bed first.
If I think of anything else I will add it in a while.
I changed a few settings on this site. Several people have said that they were not able to leave a post so please try again. If you are still unable the please send me an email. I just would like to see who all visits the site and what ya think. Thanks

1 month visit
It is hard to believe that Isaiah is 1 month already! But amazingly enough I can't imagine what our life was like before him. He is such a precious baby.
He had an appointment today in bridgeport with his peditrician. It is official... he now has reflux and is on medicine for it. They will increase it as he grows. Hopefully he will be off it by the time he is one.
We have another visit in Pittsburgh tomorrow. We will see how much he has grown. We are so blessed to be there. God sure put us in a great place with great doctors.
I will update tomorrow night.

Praise God!
We had another follow up today! We saw the surgeon as well. He believes that it is the hematomia. He said that it is common for that to happen during difficult births. He said it was a skull fracture that the bone never broke completely in to. Blood collected under neath. It will go away in 4-6 months. We all noticed that it did go down since last week. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!! We are claiming a complete healing!
As for growth...
He was 21 1/4 inches long when he was born. Now at 4 weeks and 2 days he is 23 inches long. He gained 10 ozs since last Thursday. He now weighs 10lbs and 7 oz. I can't believe how much he gains each week. Same scale, same nurse, no clothes! He goes to the peditrician on Monday. We will see what he says about his growth!
It was snowing last night so we went ahead and came up here last night. The girls didn't know it til last night. As an early Christmas present we bought them concert tickets to see the Cheetah Girls. I bought them each a Cheetah Girls purse and put the ticket in each. WOW they were so excited! Dave just called and said they are on their way back to the hotel. He said the girls had blast! Isaiah and I hung out at the hotel and took a nap, boy was it great!
We are heading home in the morning to get Devon and Elijah. We have dinner reservations at 3pm at the Hilton in Bridgeport. Dinner with just the nine of us. That will be nice.
Let me take a moment to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!! We have truely been blessed this year. God has blessed us with our health, our family, and of course our miracle baby!
Let us never forget to give God the praise for all our blessings!
With Love from our family to yours,
Amy

Update from Pittsburgh
We had a good visit in Pittsburgh yesterday. He gained 9 more ozs in oly 8 days. That puts him at a whopping 9 lbs 13oz. I will tell you I think he is ready for a steak. I gave him 5 oz at church last night and he got very upset because he wanted more! It had only been a little over 2 1/2 hours since he had eaten before.
They deceided that the would have the surgeon check his head next week. Along with his peditrician they think it is a something hematomia (or however you spell it). They think it happen during the birth process. They said it may take months but it should go away eventually. The surgeon wants to see him next week just to make sure.
He has been spitting up a good bit this week. They seem to think he may be starting to have reflux issues. He has had some fussy issues and arching his back some. They say those are all signs of reflux. Most babies with cleft have it to some degree.
They also said that the NAM device looks good. His mouth is adjusting to it well. It looks like if all continues to go well then his first surgery will be sometime around five months of age. We will know an exact date Jan. 12.
As for the rest of us, the girls are passing the bug back and forth. Elijah has an ear infection. Talk about little sleep in this house.
I will be getting things ready to do a family portrait for Christmas.
Well Elijah is in need of something so I gotta run.

another visit to pittsburgh tomorrow
We have another visit to pittsburgh in the morning. Tomorrow they will deceide on the scan of the knot on his head. They may choose to do it tomorrow. Say a little prayer for us.
He has been spitting up a good bit since yesterday. I don't know if it is a bug or if it is just normal. We are battling the bug around here. Dana came home yesterday with a fever. Kearstyn got the stomach ache last night. Devon came home from school todaywith a stomach ache. Elijah has an ear infection. Thank goodness no one is throwing up, knock on wood! I pray it stays that way. So I guess you can say that Audrey and MaKynzie are the healthy ones right now.
I will post an update tomorrow when I get home tomorrow night.

November 15
I can't beleive that it has been three yrs ago today since I had my Tubal Reversal surgery. Dave and I went to Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Gary Berger andhis staff were great! We will always hold a special place in our hearts for them! God has truely called each one of them to do great work.
I wanted to include some pictures. One is of Isaiah in his "I'm a Berger Baby" onesie. I can't believe how snug it was on him. Elijah could wear his for months. Another picture is of his NAM device in place. It helps his cleft not to look so big but most of all it helps him to eat so much better. I can't believe how well he is doing. A couple other pictures are just of his random cuteness! He is so alert!
OH AND BY THE WAY IF YOU COULDN'T TELL I AM SO IN LOVE WITH HIM!!!!
and the last picture for the day....
I walked into the bedroom to fall into bed last night and this is the sight I saw. As any mom would say to herself, "this is a picture perfect moment" so off I ran to grab the camera.
You know you are completely exhausted when you don't care where the kids sleep as long as they JUST SLEEP!!!

Another follow up in Pittsburgh
its time for another follow up. It seems like just yesterday we were there but I guess it has been six days since we were there.
In six days Isaiah has gained 8 more ounces. He has now gained past his birth weight. He is 9 pounds and 4 ounces! Let me be the first to say he is a HORSE!!! We already had to get bigger bottles because he is eating 4-6 ounces every 2-3 hours. Yesterday he ate 18 ounces in less than 12 hours. We stopped in at the home health store to get the bigger bottles. Our dr wrote the prescription for 6 bottles. They informed us that they no longer bill the insurance for the bottles or pump. So we only got the bottles for now and will submit the claim ourself. For six bottles we shelled out $ 143.00. That was with the 10 % discount they gave us. Can you say OUCH!
Isaiah has had a knot on his head since shortly after birth. It is about the size of a fifty cent piece. I wasn't overly concerned at first but am becoming increasinly more so each day. They noticed it last week at the follow up. Then today I mentioned it again. They had two specialist peditricians look at it. They were a little concerned. They said it should be on top of the skull but his isn't They felt a bone around it. They said they will observe it next week and if no change then they will order a scan. So if you have a second this week then please say a prayer for the big guy!
We go back on the 20th.
I have some new pictures I need to post soon.
BTW, after each post you see a spot for comments. Please take a moment a leave a comment for us.
Have a good evening and will update again soon.

First follow up in Pittsburgh
We had a follow up appointment in Pittsburgh yesterday. It went well. They saw no problems with the NAM device except that I need to get it a little tighter when I change it next time. They weighed him and he gained 5 ounces since last friday. The NAM has sure helped with his eating. He is doing much better.
They have scheduled all appointments through middle of Janurary. We meet with the entire team middle of Janurary to start making plans for his first surgery.
Isaiah has his days and nights mixed up. Looking forward to him straighting those out.
Love Amy and Isaiah

1 week old
Here are a couple pictures. These are coming home from the hospital.
We went to Pittsburgh on Friday and had the NAM device fitted and placed. He did really well with it. Everyone we met was very nice and we felt comfortable with our decision. I think our deceiding factor was this... If we did not have the NAM device placed then Isaiah was guarenteed a bone graft surgery between the age of 7 and 12. They would take a bone from his hip and place it in his gum line to connect them. If the device was used then there is a 60 percent chance that surgery won't be needed. We felt that we owed it to him to try to prevent any surgery that we could. I also know that we know the MASTER PHYSICIAN and are claiming the surgey won't be necessary!
Since the device was placed he has started eating better. It looks like a retainer. We will start making weekly trips to have it adjusted. This thursday is our first appointment.
In closing, please pray for me. I love my baby so much. My heart breaks for him. I know that God has a plan in all of this. I know that we were chosen to walk this path for a reason but as a mom it kills me inside to know that he will have to go through so much. We just got him out of the hospital last night with jaundice. I know that this is all fixable but when its your tiny baby going through it, it hurts. Please pray that God will give me strength. BUT MOST OF ALL PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR A COMPLETE HEALING FOR MY PRECIOUS BABY, ISAIAH!

Almost 36 weeks
Well not bad for one who wanted to come so early. I am now officially ready for Isaiah to make his appearence. I am excited to hold him and start aour life with a new little one. I bought him a few more outfits today and going tonight to buy the last few things I need for him.
Maybe I will get lucky and all the walking today with jumpstart things. I doubt it but we will see.
Dave and I just got home. We went away last night for the last time before Isaiah's arrival. We had a really good time. It was nice just to reconnect.
I go back to the dr on wednesday. Hopefully things will progress soon. Maybe another ultrasound in our future....
Have a great weekend.

34 week dr appointment
We had our dr appointment today. All good news. I only gained 2 pounds. I am measuring 36 1/2 weeks. (not bad for me!) Isaiah's heartbeat is good.
Back in two weeks. We will see how things go from there. A lot of people are thinking October 15. We will see. I am feeling ok just tired and overwhelmed.
Have a good day!

33 weeks
As of yesterday, we made it to 33 weeks. One more milestone. Not much longer now. I think it is starting to sink in that a baby is coming. I know good thing right? Isaiah is an active little guy right now.
Some of my friends had a "suprise" baby shower for me last night. It was small and real nice. I did get some nice things that I needed. Just a few more things to go and I will be set.
We are starting to get into baby mode today. I am washing his clothes and getting them put up and all that fun stuff.
Looking forward to a busy time now.

32 week dr visit
We went to the doctor yesterday for a 32 week follow up. We also had an ultrasound. We learned that Isaiah weighs a little over 5 pounds already. My fluid level is at 19.9. which is still within normal ranges. Although I am completely exhausted baby is doing good. I am still having contractions real frequently but as far as regular the come and go.
We have a maximum of 7 1/2 weeks to go and I have tons to do.
Please continue to lift us up in your prayers.

This blog is dedicated to my baby Isaiah. As we prepare for his birth, we are excited yet nervous. Isaiah was diagnoised with cleft palate and a cleft lip. We were in week 25 of our pregnancy when our world was rocked. After a follow up ultrasound it was confirmed. I have begun an incredible journey fighting for him already. It's amazing how a parent has to fight just to get the information she deserves. We have consulted a cleft- craniofacial clinic and will begin treatment shortly after his birth.
I know we are blessed. God has blessed us beyond measure throughout our lives. We have always trusted in God and will continue. I know our God will see us through. I ask that you continue to lift our family up in your prayers. We know that with God we will make it through.
I wanted to create this page as a way to connect with my friends both near and far, but also just a place I could share my thoughts and feelings. Please feel free to leave us a comment. Somedays knowing that you have a friend on your side means more than you know.
